Cadets

The uniformed cadet organisations – Sea Cadets, Marine Cadets, Army Cadets and Air Training Corps – help young people in the South West of England develop the qualities they need to become the next generation of responsible citizens.

Welcomed from all backgrounds and abilities, they learn to build self-confidence, teamwork, friendship and leadership through a range of exciting and adventurous activities.

Youngsters are also encouraged to develop a sense of community and to acquire vocational qualifications which will help them in school and working life.

At the heart of these community-based youth organisations are hundreds of male and female adult instructors – many of them former cadets – who give up their free time to provide leadership, training and administrative support, upholding the volunteer ethos which is at the heart of the cadet movement across the region.

Wessex Reserve Forces and Cadets Association has an important role in establishing and maintaining premises for the cadet organisations.
